In the Bible, Balaam was a wizard who tried to curse the Israelites, but his curses turned to blessings instead, much to his dismay.
In The Lesser Key of Solomon, Balam is the fifty-first spirit listed in the Goetia. He is a powerful Great King of Hell with forty legions of demons under his command. He is depicted with three heads; one of a man, one of a bull and one of a ram. He has the tail of a serpent, eyes of flame, rides nude upon a bear, carries a hawk on his fist and speaks in a hoarse voice. When summoned he speaks of all things past, present and future, teaches man to be cunning and wise and can turn a person invisible.
Balam is the demon lord who has taken control of Shibuya, having brainwashed the residents into worshiping him as their god. The hero can fight him if his intelligence is 7 or higher. Defeating him results in obtaining the Moon Pillar.
Balam is the boss of the World of Sloth. He is found in floor B3. While searching for an exit, the protagonist withstood the other students being forced to dig until they died of exhaustion. There are 5 passages in the last underground floor, and each passage is being opened by a student, while every Full Moon one slot can be added to the passage, one of which leads to Balam. When defeated it drops the "Ring of Diligence".
