Cowardly Maya is found throughout the Thebel Block of Tartarus. They are also fought as tutorial enemies when first entering Tartarus as well.
It is later encountered as a boss on the 8th floor of Ptolomea alongside the Wondrous Magus and the Crying Table. The boss is susceptible to all status ailments, including instant kill skills, however it resists them all as well.

During the tutorial fights in Tartarus, Cowardly Maya will not attack once the protagonist reaches a certain health threshold.

A larger and more powerful Cowardly Maya appears as the first boss in the Monad Passage of the Yabbashah Block of Tartarus. This Cowardly Maya specializes in single target medium strength magic attacks as well as Concentrate boosted Megido attacks.

Cowardly Maya appears as a Shadow in the audience when performing on the Midnight Stage.
Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth[]
Cowardly Maya appears in the early chapters of You in Wonderland. When defeated, it may drop Adhesive Piece and Adhesive Hand. Adhesive Piece is used to create the Short Bow for Yukari. Adhesive Hand is used to create the Sonic Fist for Akihiko, and the Fleuret for Mitsuru.
Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth[]
Cowardly Maya appears in the first Theater, Kamoshidaman. It mainly inhabits the 1st Ave, but two will appear alongside the Gorgeous King in the 3rd Ave. When defeated, it may drop Maya Powder and Maya Jewel. Maya Powder is used to create the Zanbato for Yusuke. Maya Jewel is used to create the Meteorite Katana for Yusuke and the Lumina Saber for Akechi.
