Akira Miyamoto seems to have a reputation as a troublemaker, as one of the disciplinary committee members says he is "up to something." He cares more about revenge than returning to the human world. The school janitor also mentions that he wishes to become a boxer and the former wishes to train him to be a champion.

Shin Megami Tensei: if...[]
Akira is a student of Karukozaka High School, Class 2-C. He is a playable character only available after beating the game with either Yumi, Charlie or Reiko. His route is the "revenge" route against Hazama who sucked the school into the Expanse. Different from other routes of the game, Akira does not visit any kind of Sin World, but instead the Land of Nomos. As Akira tries to find a way out of the Tower of Confinement, he is put on the brink of death by Hazama and becomes possessed by the demon Amon. The Amon-Akira merged Akira, eventually slays Deity Emperor Hazama with the player's help. He then takes his place as the new Deity Emperor and stays there while returning the player to the human world, however the school remains in Makai.

Shin Megami Tensei: if...[]
When Akira fuses with Amon, he will gain a flat +1 sum to each of his abilities. When Tamaki defeats Mammon, Akira will receive a further +2 bonus to each of his abilities. On each occasion, he also gains a new sprite, the first more drastic and the second a simple recolor. These bonuses are permanent and to his bases, and as such cannot increase his stats to over 40 the way equipment bonuses can.
Like the other partners, Akira uses the same formula to calculate his HP as the protagonist, which is determined by their gender. This can make the game somewhat more difficult if the female route is chosen.

Etymology[]
- The name Akira means "bright, light, clear" (明).
- Akira's surname Miyamoto means "temple, shrine, palace" (宮) (miya) and "base, root, origin, source" (本) (moto).
Trivia[]
- Akira's last name and his possession is a reference to Amon Miyamoto, a Japanese stage director. It is also a reference to the manga Devilman, whose protagonist, Akira, gets possessed by the demon Amon and gains supernatural powers.
- In the PlayStation version of Shin Megami Tensei: if… Akira has an exclusive theme ("Fated Enemy (宿敵)") that plays during random battles in his route. This composition is the origin of the normal battle theme of the Amala Network from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, and was later remixed further to create the default battle theme of the Shin Megami Tensei: if… Costume & BGM DLC for Persona 5.
