Kinoko Houshi is a demon in the series.
History[]
Kinoko Houshi (きのこ法師*)?, meaning "Mushroom Monk", and incidentally a homophone with "mushroom spores" (きのこ胞子, Kinoko hōshi)?, is most likely a reference to Nyogen Senzaki, a Rinzai Zen monk. He spread the teachings of Zen Buddhism to the United States during the 20th century. He loved to compare himself to a "homeless mushroom." Nyogen died in 1958.
