Shin Megami Tensei II[]

Kaneko's design for Okamoto draws inspiration from Tange Danpei, a character from the 1968-1973 manga Ashita no Joe.

Personality[]

Judging by comments made by other NPCs about him, Okamoto seems to have something of a gambling problem (spending all the money he and "Hawk" make on the casino); also, he is always borrowing money from someone.

Profile[]

Shin Megami Tensei II[]

After seeing how he defended himself, Okamoto took Aleph under his wing, naming him Hawk, and began training him to be a gladiator in order for both of them to achieve enough money to leave Valhalla. He is, however, freed of all his debts after Aleph is titled Champion of the Colosseum, and the gym of his rival Haneda is left under his management, where it gains great popularity.

Trivia[]

  • The janitor of Karukozaka High School from Shin Megami Tensei: if... is a reference to Okamoto in that they are identical appearance-wise except for the color of their clothes. The janitor can later be found in the World of Gluttony's Casino as a reference to Okamoto's love of gambling.
  • In an inaccessible line in Shin Megami Tensei II, it is revealed that Okamoto was quite the capable fighter in his past, taking on former Valhalla Colloseum Champion Feather Adonis in a well-remembered fight.
  • One of the Challenge Quests in Shin Megami Tensei IV is issued by "Okamoto the Ex-Hunter," possibly alluding to this character.
