Forums: Index > The Cathedral > Justification of doujin artwork

User:AzureJay recently uploaded an image for Comic Market. AFAIC Comic Market (or Comiket) is a market for selling works of Doujinshi, in other words tribute works without formal recognition of the source company. I wonder if we tolerate such works to be uploaded here, otherwise it also means we open the door to fan/amateur arts which is something I don't want to see. -- Inpursuit (talk) 02:23, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
Fan artwork has never been allowed here on mainspace pages. As long as the content is PG-13 it may be used in user pages. On the subject of images however, why do we have a Miscellaneous Images category? Great Mara (talk) 02:28, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
If image for user page is tolerated, I wonder if we have a limit per each user can upload/use. I remember few months ago there are few users with minimal article editing uploaded a bunch of retouched artwork/screenshot just for decorating their own userpages. That's something I don't wanna encourage. -- Inpursuit (talk) 02:32, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
MoS sets a limit of 5. Might be somewhat slim. As long as people don't start loading up dozens of images I guess. Great Mara (talk) 02:38, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
To answer that question about Miscellaneous Images, its purpose is really varied. It might be for images depicting Megami Tensei related works in a non-Megami Tensei material ie. this Jack Frost picture from Joshirku, or Ishtar in Catherine. As long as the image has something related to the Megaten universe as a whole and used in mainspace. I was wondering if we should make it even more specific, even though we don't really tend to cover non-Megaten works. Then there's Maken X... BLUER一番 04:06, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
Generally, sub-category is only needed when (human) users begin to have trouble to look for the appropriate material in the greater category. IOW you don't create a sub-category when the greater category isn't crowded and the sub-category would merely contain one or two articles or files. -- Inpursuit (talk) 04:23, September 4, 2015 (UTC)
