Forums: Index > Temple of Gaia > Which of the alignments is more human-centric?

Here's two ways of thought:

1. "Existence and morality is human centric. The ultimate goal is to improve human welfare, even at the expense of the Earth's welfare. Man is good and not fallen. Man is the answer to everything. What's good for Man must be good for the planet."

What is this in line with? LAW, CHAOS, or NEUTRAL?

2. "Existence is not human-centric and neither is morality. At the rate humans are going, Man could be the Earth's problem child, and it already is. Man is not fallen, but neither is he completely good. What's good for Man isn't necessarily good for the planet, and sometimes it may wreck the planet."

What is this in line with? LAW, CHAOS, or NEUTRAL?

Looking at it from different perspectives, it's fair to say both fit into ______.

@Otogi_2 Into what?

Any of them. Either of these world views can be adapted into a particular alignment, and it's not hard to draw how. May I ask why you're making so many of these threads, though? -- Otogi_2.

@Otogi_2 First off, I have a curiousity that can't be tamed, and it shapes my overall outlook. Second, how can you adapt both into LAW, CHAOS, or NEUTRAL? GalaxiaWild 21:10, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Fair enough, but why restrict them to the three confinements of a game trope and not explore these philosphies without being tied either of them, perferably on a political/philosophical forum? If you can give me a reasonable answer for that (perhaps in a message), I'll answer the second question in detail. Anyone else can, of course, answer it, too, if you prefer not to tell me about it. -- Otogi_2

@Otogi_2 I'd prefer it if you answered the second question. Also, do you know any philosophical/political forums that work similar to this one? GalaxiaWild 21:31, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Similar how, exactly? -- Otogi_2

@Otogi_2 Think how this forum works and find something similar. If you can't, just go for any old forum of the topic. And you still haven't answered "how can you adapt both outlooks, the human-centric and the 'all life is equal', into LAW, CHAOS, or NEUTRAL?" GalaxiaWild 21:58, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

But what are you looking for? The format? Is it the community? Is it size? The response time?

And I'm sorry I haven't answered, but I still don't feel that you've reasonable answer. -- Otogi_2

@Otogi_2 Probably the community. And what do you mean I haven't reasonably answered. I'm looking for answers. I'll detail the question:

You know these two statements:

1. "Existence and morality is human centric. The ultimate goal is to improve human welfare, even at the expense of the Earth's welfare. Man is good and not fallen. Man is the answer to everything. What's good for Man must be good for the planet."

2. "Existence is not human-centric and neither is morality. At the rate humans are going, Man could be the Earth's problem child, and it already is. Man is not fallen, but neither is he completely good. What's good for Man isn't necessarily good for the planet, and sometimes it may wreck the planet."

How can either of these statements be adapted into either of the alignments? GalaxiaWild 22:42, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, that's the reasonable part. What I don't understand is why you need to put them into these vague groups on this forum when you can discuss them in detail in a political philosophical forum. It's thinking and ideas better spent somewhere else. When I get an answer on that, I'll tell you. As for community, I don't really understand. It's small, it doesn't get a lot of traffic and it's about a relatively niche game series. It's polite, it doesn't get any trolls and tries to interpret the source material futher than just the games, but it's pretty hard stretched in what you're asking for. -- Otogi_2

@Otogi_2 OK, just any of those forums will do. But I'm getting fed up of not having the question answered. If it doesn't get answered, this is going to go on for a while. GalaxiaWild 09:37, February 20, 2011 (UTC)
