A fearsome giant from Greek myth who dwelt on the island Erytheia with the mythic Hesperides. The grandson of Medusa, he was described as a monster with human faces. According to Hesiod, Geryon had one body and three heads, while Aeschylus gave him three bodies, some versions state that he had six legs or that his three bodies were connected by his legs. Ancient Greek vases portrayed him as having wings, yet despite these strange appearances he was described as a warrior.
He was the owner of Cerberus brother Orthrus and he owned a herd of red cattle guarded by Orthrus and herded by Eurytion. Heracles would kill Geryon in order to complete his Twelve Labours.
