Ginza

Ginza in Persona 5.

Ginza (銀座) is a recurring location in the series.

History[]

Ginza is a district of Chūō, Tokyo, located south of Yaesu and Kyōbashi, west of Tsukiji, east of Yūrakuchō and Uchisaiwaicho, and north of Shinbashi. It is known as an upmarket area of Tokyo with many department stores, boutiques, restaurants and coffeehouses. It is recognized as one of the most luxurious shopping destinations in the world. Many upscale designers' flagship stores are in Ginza, such as the Gucci Flagship Store.

Appearances[]

Profile[]

Megami Tensei II[]

Ginza has become an island due to its closeness to Ground Zero, and can only be reached by showing Mora the Water Seal, which can only be obtained in Shibuya if the witch has joined the protagonist's party. The optional boss Basilisk can be found in one of the basement floors, as well as the entrance to Suzuki Company Ltd. In the latter area, the protagonist can meet the company's president, Mr. Suzuki, if he has its business card which is also given by a man in Ginza. In Ginza's third basement, if he travels there before he defeats Pazuzu, the protagonist can find Lucifer encased in ice, much to his surprise.

After Pazuzu's defeat, the Dark Hero revives Lucifer from his prison, which Mr. Suzuki and the other NPCs in Ginza will comment on. After the confrontation with Lucifer, the protagonist can enter Suzuki Company Ltd.'s back area.

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei[]

Near the passage leading to Shinjuku, a large pile of trash can be found. After the events at Bael's Castle, if the protagonist hasn't obtained the Hinokagutsuchi, he can examine the heap of garbage to find 5,000 Macca, 2,000 Magnetite and, if Bael was smashed as a frog, a crystal ball which will teleport the party to the Garbage Mountain.

Shin Megami Tensei[]

Ginza is the location of the Police HQ, where a mad scientist is planning to use an army of robots to take over Tokyo. The protagonist and the heroine stop him by destroying the Security AI.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne[]

In Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, the Demi-fiend travels to Ginza after hearing a rumor that Hikawa's organization, the Assembly of Nihilo, is there. After failing to infiltrate the assembly, the protagonist learns from Nyx about Nihilo's rival, the Mantra Army and their leader Gozu-Tennoh. The music in the area is a fast paced remix of the mall theme from the first Shin Megami Tensei game.

Shin Megami Tensei IV[]

Ginza is the home territory of the Ring of Gaea. It can only be accessed after Tayama gives Flynn the order to assassinate Yuriko. The main underground entrance is Tokyo Station, which is near Kasumigaseki, and is blocked by a Gaea Sentry with a pair of Momunofu demons in tow.

More than half of Ginza's surface area is covered with toxic marsh. Its only locations are station fronts, underground passages and the Gaea headquarters in Tsukiji Hongwanji. Ginza's main intersection has a sidequest to unlock the stores carrying the game's best armor and medicine, and has the rock that was once the final National Defense Divinity, Masakado, at its very center, though this is relevant only in the Neutral path.

The Gaea members at the intersection measure their power by money, and thus, a fair amount of it is needed to unlock most areas. First, the guard at the west entrance must be bribed with 5,000 macca to provide access to the West District. Within it, a man will sell Flynn a Gold Card for 10,000 macca. With it, the south entrance guard will offer the chance to acquire a Platinum Card for 50,000 macca; the card is somewhere in the South District and allows entrance into the East District.

Once Flynn possesses the Platinum Card, a Challenge Quest will be posted, offering a Black Card in exchange for a Silver Coin. Having accepted the quest, a man in the West District will offer one such coin at a price of 100,000 macca. By purchasing it, Flynn unlocks the last sections of Ginza and access to the Members-Only Clubs. Rare 5-star relics spawn in this area, and Dionysus can be encountered there as part of a Challenge Quest.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse[]

Ginza remains the main operating area for the Ring of Gaea. However, since the death of Yuriko, there has been a divide in the organization between members who are still loyal to Yuriko, and those who have taken to following Maitreya. Yuriko's followers remain in Ginza but have been effectively cast out of Tsukiji Konganji, which the Maitreya Faction now occupies for itself.

Shin Megami Tensei V[]

SMT5 Chiyoda Ginza

The first area of Ginza in Shin Megami Tensei V.

Ginza is the first area visited in the Chiyoda region of Da'at. Upon entering the area, the protagonst witnesses a large scale battle between the forces of Law and Chaos. From there, the protagonist must cooperate with Bethel's angels and slay the Demon King's army of chaos. The Ginza area conists of overlapping sections, with location changing based on the elevation and section of overlapping areas on the map.

Black Frost can be found in the area, seeking to establish himself as the King of Ginza, after stating that he used to be the king of Kabukicho but was ousted by another demon. He wants access to alcohol, but finds himself prevented by Dionysus. He will ask the protagonist to deal with Dionysus to procure a source of alcohol for the clubs he wants to open in the "Black Frost Strikes Back" subquest.

A Jack-o'-Lantern nearby will give the protagonist the "Lighting the Way" subquest, asking the protagonist to find Fire Gems for him.

Three Miman can be found in the Ginza area: one to the right upon entering the area, another near where Black Frost is standing within the building, and another tucked behind some rubble in the southwest corner near Miyuki Street.

Miyuki Street[]

Miyuki Steet is home to one of the Abscesses obscuring the map. Naga Raja must be defeated to dispel this Abscess. A Hua Po in the area will request that the protagonist escort her home when he enters her vicinity, beginning the "The Path to Myojin Forest" subquest.

Sukiyabashi[]

A punishing foe in the form of Chimera runs circles in this area. Dionysus can also be found here, and will give the protagonist the "A Sobering Standoff" subquest in opposition to Black Frost's subquest.

Yurakucho[]

Yurakucho is home to the second Abscess obscuring the map of the area. Anzu and Mishaguji must be defeated in order to dispel this Abscess.

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army[]

Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV's attention is turned here based on information provided to Narumi at the beginning of Episode 2. She states that the Red Cape has been sighted in Ginza-Cho, and asks Narumi to investigate. Raidou ventures into Ginza-Cho in pursuit of Kiyoshi Daidouji.

While walking the main streets south to the Ryugu restaurant, Raidou will be stopped by a woman, asking if he knew anything about the accident that occurred during the last full moon.

Later on, Raidou will end up back on the trail of the Red Cape. After meeting Tae Asakura at the Shin-Sekai Soda Joint, she will state that the Red Cape's attacks coincide with the Full Moon and direct Raidou to the southern road out of Ginza-Cho near the underpass. Being in the area during the Full Moon will lead to a confrontation with Oboroguruma, which mistake Raidou for its attacker. After being defeated, Oboroguruma will state that it was attacked by the Red Cape, but wasn't able to catch up with the other demon on the straight roads. It will hand over a Rickshaw Knob to Raidou as evidence.

After showing the Rickshaw Knob and Lucky Charm to Shizu in the Red-Light District of Fukagawa-Cho, Raidou can search Denpachi's home for him, but he is out. Gouto suggests looking for him at Ryugu. Ryugu's owner reveals that Denpachi hasn't been to work and talks about another attack on taxis in Ginza-Cho. Back in Ginza-Cho using Cool Down on a policeman standing in the middle of the street reveals that a monster destroyed a car and escaped beneath the overpass, venturing forward leads to an encounter with the Red Cape, who will flee into the Dark Realm. Dark Ginza-Cho will now be accessible from the Nameless Shrine.

The Red Cape can be found in the southeast corner of the Dark Ginza-Cho overpass. After a brief scuffle, it will run away towards the main street. After another brief encounter, it will run towards the northeast end of the loop underneath the overpass. Raidou can use the nearby parked vehicle to block the escape route with a Fury Order demon with the Use Force investigation skill. Chasing the Red Cape back underneath the overpass leads to a brief confrontation at the passage blocked by a vehicle. Chasing the Red Cape again leads to a final confrontation with the monster. As the battle goes on, the Red Cape will begin ranting about how everything is the automobiles' fault and begin healing itself. After the monster is finally defeated, the Red Cape is revealed to have been Denpachi. He will state that since he began losing work, he began blacking out and began hearing rumors of the Red Cape attacks, not knowing he was responsible. Denpachi goes on to say that Kiyoshi Daidouji cherishes his factory and says he will likely be found there.

In Episode 9, Raidou finds himself in an alternate reality after the events at Waden One. In order to return to his own reality, Raidou must collect three prisms from guardians in the Capital. Almost immediately after entering Dark Ginza-Cho, a voice rings out in greeting, but Raidou must make it to their place to continue the conversation. After taking the main road forward to a waiting demon, Raidou will enter a confrontation with Muspell and two Thrones. After defeating them, doubling back and heading south will lead to two streetcars blocking the underpass, requiring summoning a demon of the Fury Order in order to use their Use Force ability to proceed. Afterward, Raidou will need to send the demon solo through a tainted gate to hit the same streecar from the other side, but they will again face Muspell before being able to do so.

After reaching the upper level of the overpass, Raidou will be confronted by Susano-o, guardian of the Flame Prism. He will say that he is no good with words, and that Raidou should try and take it. After the battle, Susano-o will relinquish the Flame Prism to Raidou. Raidou will be recalled to the Nameless Shrine immediately.

Persona 5[]

Ginza is a hangout spot where an expensive sushi restaurant is located. The place is unlocked in July 24th, when the Phantom Thieves of Hearts decide to celebrate on the restaurant after selling Junya Kaneshiro's Treasure. It can also potentially be unlocked earlier as part of Toranosuke Yoshida's Confidant Rank 7 event. The protagonist later visits there in August 31st with Futaba and Sojiro Sakura after Futaba's heart has been changed. He can also invite his friends to spend time with him there.

Persona 5 The Animation[]

In the anime adaptation of the game, Ren Amamiya visits the sushi restaurant for the first time with Yusuke Kitagawa and Akio Kawanabe, an event based on Emperor Confidant from the game. But the event with Phantom Thieves eating there to celebrate their victory from Kaneshiro doesn't happen. Ren, Futaba and Sojiro eating there after Futaba's change of heart, however, did occur.
