History

A mythological creature from China, it is an ox-headed being tasked with keeping spirits in the underworld from escaping before their penance is finished.

The name listed is Japanese, in Chinese Mythology, this demon is known as Niu Tou (牛頭, ox head), one of the duo who guards the Afterworld. He is partnered with Ma Mian (馬面, horse face).
