Profile[]
Shin Megami Tensei II[]
Hiruko serves as an attendant of Masakado, who asks Aleph to retrieve his master's body parts to revive him via fusion in the Cathedral of Shadows, and eventually gives you Masakado's Soul to fully revive him.
In this role, he betrayed the Amatsukami and Masakado himself, allowing the Kunitsukami, allied with the Hebrew God, to defeat and imprison them. Not long afterwards, though, the Kunitsukami were equally cast away, seizing Masakado's corpse pieces as loot. Desperate to amend his mistakes, the aged, frail Hiruko was powerless to intervene on behalf of the population of the Abyss without Masakado's power.
After fully reviving Masakado, a side-quest is activated, in which Aleph must free the Amatsukami. After this, Aleph is given the Lord's Blade, a powerful Neutral weapon.
Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army[]
Hiruko play an important part in the game; they are explained to be potent physical manifestations of fear and despair in humans. While they are extremely rare in normal circumstances, General Munakata's Super Soldier Project involves the construction of several radio towers designed to force the creation of Hiruko. The first, and only to be completed, of these towers, was Waden One.
Hiruko in their early stages manifest through pains and assorted maladies, though as they grow in power and influence over their host they can physically convert him or her into a powerful inhuman beast called the Red Cape. Early victims of this fate were Kiyoshi Daidouji and Shizu's brother Denpachi Iida. Daidouji in particular later developed a full-grown Hiruko, which burst from his body and left.
Later on, hundreds if not thousands of Hiruko were found to have latched to Waden One. Later on, at the moment of the activation of the Soulless God Oumagatsu, all Hiruko were driven into the battleship and used to power the immense machine with the power of their hate and fear.
During the first appearance of the second Soulless God Oumagatsu used by the spirit of Raidou Kuzunoha XL possessing Kaya Daidouji, another massive amount of Hiruko are seen latching into this other model to power it with the power of their hate and fear as well.
Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon[]
"A deformed possession spirit. In its larval stage, it leeches off the anxiety of a human host. In Japanese lore, it was a stunted child of Izanagi and Izanami, cast out to sea because of its deformity."
