Performa

Itsuki Aoi generating a ball of Performa.

Performa (パフォーマ, Pafooma)? is one of Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE's core aspects.

Profile[]

Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE[]

Performa is described as the crystallized powers of expression within people. Mirages are attracted to Performa and suck it out of people, leaving them drained with a sense of hopeless despair, making them want to stop trying in their creative field. Should a Mirage completely devour someone's Performa, it would eventually result in the death of the victim. Mirage Masters are able to form bonds with Mirages by willingly sharing their Performa.

When a battle is won, experience points, skill points, and Performa will be rewarded. As skill points are amassed and Carnage level up, new skills can be acquired. Performa can be used as material within the Bloom Palace to create new Carnage weapon forms with Carnage Unity.

Additionally, special Performa can be obtained from Mirage Masters strengthening their resolves, as well as deepening their bonds, either through the main story or through Side Quests, leveling up their Stage Rankings, or found within (typically locked) treasure boxes within the various Idolaspheres. These can be used to create Radiant Skills, special passive skills that can be created through Radiant Unity.

Another special type of Performa that can be found either after battle with powerful enemies starting with Cursed Draug or found within treasure boxes are Master Seals, Performa infused with incredible power that are used in the Class Change service. These Performa promote a Mirage to one of two new Classes from their default Class, giving them boosted stats across the board aside from a scant few areas, unlocks new Carnage for them to make with Carnage Unity, changes their default affinities, and giving them a new Special Performance Skill. Master Seals can also be used to reclass a Mirage between their two promoted classes.

Subtypes of Performa[]

  • Force: Essential for Carnage Unity. They essentially make up a Mirage's form.
  • Spoil: Essential for Carnage Unity. These Performa resemble the cores that can be found within a lesser Mirage's body.
    • Performa dropped from Rare Mirages Sixth Element and Bretorius counts as both of the above types, so they will show up during the Carnage Unity animation. In the Performa tab of the Inventory, they can be found in the middle between the Forces and the spoils.
  • Crystal: Essential for Radiant Unity. These Performa resemble corrupted, spiky spheres that give off a rainbow-hue glow. They are won by beating bosses and mid/sub-bosses.
  • Master: Essential for Radiant Unity. The majority of these Performa are color-coded spheres that are tied to their respective Mirage Master. Those found in the wild from within Idolasphere treasure boxes, sealed or not, instead have a rainbow hue.
  • Prestige: Used for both Carnage & Radiant Unity services. These Performa resemble stars used in star classification ratings. They can either be part of the post-battle rewards, or obtained through Session Attacks. They range between 1-Star to 6-Star.
  • Master Seal: Essential for Class Change. These Performa look just like how they resemble in modern Fire Emblem titles. They can be found after participating in specific fights, or found within treasure boxes.

Etymology[]

Performa is a pun off of the English word "Performer," as well as a portmanteau of "Perform" and Forma, a material from Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey/Redux with similar execution to Performa, and come in their own varieties.
