Vajra (demon)

Vajra (ヴァジラ or 金剛杵, Vajira)^?, also known as Bajira, is a demon and weapon in the series.

History

One of the twelve guardians of Yakushi-Nyorai, who each possesses an aspect of the Twelve Sacred Animals from Chinese calendar. Vajra represents the Ox and is usually represented as a humanoid armored white ox, that wields a sword. He is also the one who protects humanity.

The item Vajra is said to mean diamond/adamantine or thunderbolt in sanskrit. Its association with diamonds has it symbolize both purity and indestructibility. The Vajra is also used to symbolize enlightenment due to this association.
