Please upload an image of examples/comparisons of weather in both P4 and P5 and place it here. Once finished, this notice may be removed.

The Weather Forecast (天候, Tenkō)? system is an important gameplay element in the Persona series.

Appearances[]

Profile[]

Persona 4[]

The weather significantly dictates the activities of the protagonist during his stay in Inaba. The protagonist can check the weather for the whole week through the television in the Dojima Residence, the student on the roof of Yasogami High School, and while meeting with the Investigation Team at Junes Department Store. In Persona 4 Golden, after a certain point, during the protagonist's free time, the screen can be tapped to bring up an overlay that shows the next two days' weather reports.

The weather also affects the Midnight Channel and the dungeons within, but more specifically, the weather within the TV World is a direct opposite of its real world counterpart. Most prominently, if it's foggy in Inaba, the fog within the midnight channel will be lifted: Shadows only attack (normal) people then, hence the importance of rescuing victims before the deadline.

Weather Conditions[]

As mentioned, several options and activities are dictated by the weather.

Clear[]

Music: "Your Affection," sometimes replaced by ambient cicada chirping in summer.

  • The protagonist can go for soccer/basketball practice.
  • Child care part-time job can be done in this weather.
Cloudy[]

Music: "Heartbeat, Heartbreak"

  • The protagonist can go for soccer/basketball practice.
  • Child care part-time job can be done in this weather.
Rain/Storm[]

Music: Ambient sound of rainfall, with thunder during storms.

  • The protagonist can increase his Knowledge score two times when studying.
  • The Chinese Diner Aiya in the Central Shopping District sells the Mega Beef Bowl for 3,000 yen. Increases Understanding, Knowledge, Diligence and Courage slightly.
  • The Shiroku Store Capsule Machine can be used, offering various consumables and treasure chest keys, at the cost of some yen and taking up the time slot.
  • The Shiroku Store also has all items discounted.
  • Daidara Metalworks will both remain open and offer a discount on rainy nights.
  • Super Croquettes are available for purchase at Souzai Daigaku, up to 5 per day.
  • Bigger, more challenging fish are more likely to appear at the Samegawa Flood Plain and Shichiri Beach.
  • Bug Catching at Tatsuhime Shrine is unavailable.
  • Some Shadows in the Midnight Channel only appear during rainy weather.
  • Shadows have a higher chance of dropping rare items.
  • The Rainy Death skill has an increased Critical rate in rainy weather.
  • Most daytime Social Links are unavailable, except for Sun, Hermit and Fortune. Nighttime Social Links are unaffected.
  • Most outdoor quest NPCs are absent.
  • Reading books in the protagonist's room during rainy weather can provide a slight social stat improvement. This can happen whether the book is completed or not.
Fog[]

Music: "Omen"

  • Seen both after the cutoff date for a rescue mission and towards the end of the game.

Persona 4 Golden[]

Snow[]

Music: "Snowflakes"

  • Seen after New Year's Day until Valentines Day.
  • Gardening and bug catching are no longer possible, but the protagonist can dig up bugs in the Dojima garden.

Persona 5 / Royal[]

Decarabia SMT This topic is in need of research for the following reason:
* Double-check how Snowy weather affects daily activities in P5R

This can be discussed on the article's talk page.

For more information on how the weather is arranged on the calendar, see Calendar (Persona 5)
"Oh, and it's important to note that both Mementos and the Palaces are affected by real world happenings. Weather's a great example of that. I mean, weather affects your mood, doesn't it? Same goes for Mementos. You should try heading in on a day with bad weather, I'll explain in more detail then."
—Morgana, Persona 5

The available weather conditions are P5 Weather Clearclear, P5 Weather Cloudycloudy, P5 Weather Rainyrain and P5 Weather Snowysnow. Rain also changes the overworld music.

Weather influences certain activities, via boosting the results of performing them, or affecting their availability.

"Beneath the Mask -Rain, (Instrumental Version)-" plays during all rainy days regardless of story progress.

Weather influences people's mood and subsequently changes the structure of Mementos. In battle, although clear and cloudy have no influence, if the weather is rainy or snowy, within Mementos, the appearance rate of enemies and treasure chests will be increased, more types of items can spawn from search objects.[1][2]

Certain passive skills only function in certain weather. These include Ambient Aid and Climate Decorum.

In Persona 5 Royal, if a Persona has the Trait Gloomy Child, they will be able to use Ambient Aid and Climate Decorum in normal weather as well.

Although the weather always corresponds to the respective date and its time of day, there is an exception to this rule: on the day after a Palace is cleared, the weather will be clear.

Weather Warning[]

Decarabia SMT This topic is in need of research for the following reason:
* What drinks can be given to enemies during heat wave? Very likely just vending machine drinks. Leblanc Coffee probably wouldn't count.

This can be discussed on the article's talk page.

Besides these, secondary, special weather can occur subsequently with the general weather. They are labeled as "pollen warning," "heat wave" and "guerrilla rainstorm," "Flu Season" and "Cold Wave." Weather warnings have the regular effects of rainy or snowy weather, but each weather warning has additional effects on battles or appearance rates in Mementos, with some also affecting activities in the real world:[1][2]

Weather warning Effect Dates
Thunderstorm Rarer Shadows & Treasure Demons have a higher chance of appearing.
Treasure chests have a higher chance of appearing.
Torrential rain Rarer Shadows & Treasure Demons have a higher chance of appearing. Blank cards and some rarer materials like quicksilver can be found alongside other random object drops.
